SUMMARY:SOUND IMPROVISATION\: Strategies for the here an now
DTSTART:20110801T080000Z
DTEND:20110805T170000Z
DESCRIPTION:It was from the prepared piano works of American composer
John Cage\, composed in the 30's\, that musical instruments began to a
cquire a new status within the musical vanguard. Having regard to the
possibilities offered by these new approaches to the instruments\, the
musical focus away from the parameters of contemporary classical comp
osition\, he went slowly into new areas where the sound could be expre
ssed more freely\, blurring new situations\, new practices and ways of
understanding music. Thus was born in the 60's\, free improvisation\,
in some ways the heir of free-jazz and contemporary music. The instru
ments are prepared\, stretched and widened to evacuate their own tradi
tions and find new horizons sound. And since the instruments were no l
onger what they seemed\, was also given the opportunity to make music
 with objects.
